"Cold Shoulder" - green-winged teal

from $110.00

Every couple can relate to this. The male green-winged teal has said something wrong and he is clueless about his blunder. He is paying for the mistake with a display of “Cold Shoulder” from the female. They will work it out with a bit of time.

This piece involved a whole lot of black pencil work. I love doing tangles and making some things visually recede while others come forward. Something like this certainly takes time and patience but I enjoy it and consider the illusion a bit of a magic trick.

I worked from taxidermied birds that were loaned to me for this one. My husband, David Curles, waded out into a local lake to photograph water iris for my reference. The weather turned and began to rain giving me a wonderful texture in the water.

Archival giclee signed and numbered limited edition (500) from a gouache and pencil original.
